Partner schools

We work with a range of schools across Norfolk and Suffolk to provide a high-quality placement experience in a range of settings, including nurseries, infant, junior and primary schools, secondary schools, sixth-form colleges and special settings for young people with a range of learning needs. Our schools vary in size and location and across the two schools you’ll train in we aim to plan for a broad experience which will give you a clear sense of what it is like to work in different schools.  

We develop strong links with our placement schools so that they develop a strong understanding of how trainees develop and how they work with NTTC to create a programme which embeds success into our programme. 

On placement, you will have two main contacts in your school: 

• A mentor who is a key-stage or subject expert, who will be your first point of contact on placement and who will support you through discussions, observations and feedback to reflect on, rehearse and develop your planning, teaching and assessment work. 

• A link teacher, who oversees all trainees and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in your school. They keep in touch with us about your experience and may meet with you and observe you as part of your training.   

As part of your compulsory training, you will need to complete placements in two schools and work in at least two consecutive key stages. For primary trainees, you are mostly likely to work in one class in one of your two key stages in each placement school. For secondary trainees, your timetable in each placement is most likely to cover the two key stages in a mix of classes across each week.
