Gaining QTS
Norfolk Teacher Training Centre’s graduation takes place at Norwich Cathedral. It’s a beautiful location in the heart of Norwich, which is a fitting opportunity to celebrate our trainees’ successes working in local schools.
The NTTC team takes enormous pride in celebrating these achievements – and we all enjoy wearing the gowns that we graduated in as we watch our trainees receive their certificates!
The ceremony itself had all the splendour you would expect. It included speeches from City College Norwich CEO and special guest Jonathan Reed and a performance of ‘For Good’ from Wicked by the excellent Level 3 Musical Theatre choir. The organist, David Dunnet, has played in past graduations and contributed to the celebratory atmosphere.
We were also proud to celebrate our primary and secondary trainees of the year. These are awards for trainees who have made the biggest impact during their training – in terms of their successes on placement and when working with colleagues in schools, as well as contribution to centre-based training sessions with their trainee peers.
Primary Trainee of the Year was Katie Dell. The NTTC primary team praised Katie for her ‘genuine care, warmth and enthusiasm’ and said that Katie ‘has a wonderful ability to make those around her feel supported and valued.’ Katie generously shared ideas and experiences, offered encouragement to peers and was always willing to help. Katie contributed to creating an environment ‘where people feel comfortable working together, sharing ideas and learning from one another’.
Secondary Trainee of the Year was Lucinda Hunt. The NTTC secondary team said that Lucinda ‘approached every challenge with positivity, enthusiasm and determination’. Lucinda’s approach to teaching showed an ‘unwavering belief in her pupils’. Lucinda has always believed in her students’ potential, held high expectations for them and remained committed to helping them succeed. This belief has been matched by the care, energy and encouragement she brought to her classroom every day.
Because it is always a day of celebration, NTTC graduates are also keen to share their thoughts and feelings about their training and their experiences on graduation day. Secondary Trainee of the Year Lucinda gave us some lovely feedback:
I wouldn't feel half as confident with my teaching if it wasn't for your unwavering guidance and support."
I am so proud of myself and grateful that I had the chance to train with such a quality provider."
We also like to spend time as a team reflecting on graduation. You can read primary tutor Helen’s reflections here:
