Our interview process

Our interview process

Interviews are a key part of the application process - giving us the chance to assess your suitability for the programme to which you have applied, as well as giving you a more in-depth opportunity to decide whether NTTC provides a good fit with your teacher training ambitions.

The interview panel is usually made up of:

  • Two members of staff from Norfolk Teacher Training Centre
  • A current NTTC trainee teacher
  • A representative from one of our partner schools*

* If you are applying for a Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship or the Assessment Only route, the panel will include a representative from the school that would be your employer.

Interview and tasks

Interviews are currently being held online and last about an hour. You will be invited to the interview and sent a Zoom link.

As part of the interview you will be asked to give a presentation to the panel. These tasks are as follows:

  • Primary teaching applicants - Choose a book of your choice to bring to the interview and present to the panel. Prepare a verbal presentation on what learning opportunities there are based around your chosen book.
  • Secondary teaching applicants - Choose an item of your choice to bring into interview and present to the panel. Prepare a verbal presentation on what learning opportunities there are within your chosen subject based around your item of choice.

In both cases, applicants are asked to send us an outline plan of their presentation, for the panel to consider alongside the verbal presentation.

We will answer any questions you may have about our teacher training programmes, school placements, mentoring, or any other aspect of training with NTTC, at the end of the interview.

Child protection checks

A child disqualification check and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out for all applicants whom we interview.

Interview decision

We will post our decision following the interview on Apply/UCAS within 48 hours.
